String Cheese Incident Add Bootsy Collins, Flaming Lips, Tiny Universe Horns to NYE Lineup

The String Cheese Incident have added some special guests to the bill for their three-night, 20th Anniversary Celebration/New Year’s Eve run at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, CO. The band has announced that Bootsy Collins and the Funk Unity Band will now play an opening set on December 28, while The Flaming Lips will hold down the opening slot on December 29. The Tiny Universe Horns with Karl Denson and Chris Littlefield will also be on hand on the 28th and 29th. In addition, the December 31 performance will feature special surprise guests from the band’s past.

The String Cheese Incident have also revealed that all ticket buyers will received a download code for a remastered mp3 of their very first cassette tape, which includes early recordings of 11 classic SCI songs.

Tickets to the shows are now on sale.

wow…. they did something cool…. would’ve expected bassnectar, schpongle and Amon Tobin w/ the lame direction this band has been going lately…

That is a pretty ridiculous comment. Their Halloween festival had a full set sit in by Anti Balas while other shows had Bernie Worell Steve Kimock Drew Emitt Vince Herman Dominic Lalique and Jeff Lerner. Sit in sporadically. The last time DJ Lorin, who Michael Kang discovered, sat in we’re New Years shows many years ago. A actual DJ hasn’t sat in with the band in many years. This is cool, so are most guests SCI bring along. Oh DJ Lorin is Bassnectar, and if I found him and enjoyed some of his success I probably would be proud of it. Forbes said Lorin made 15 million in 2012, but that’s lame right?

Love the chees! But seriously, hate the Bassnectar! This lineup looks nice. Bootsy is da man.
