Jam rocker Sherman Ewing has released the new single “Wild River” to commemorate the one year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. Off Ewing’s forthcoming EP Cardboard Participant due out in early 2014, the single pays tribute to the “acts of heroism and compassion he witnessed in Red Hook, Brooklyn following the aftermath of the storm.”

In October 2012, Ewing witnessed the destruction of Hurricane Sandy first hand, choosing not to evacuate. Ewing was without electricity or heat for six weeks as his entire block was underwater. Ewing lived by candlelight until power was restored.
