Hank Williams Jr. and Country Music Hall-of-Famer Merle Haggard have teamed up to record a rendition of Haggard’s 1980 hit “I Think I’ll Just Stay Here and Drink” for Williams’ latest album, Old School New Rules. To support their collaboration, the two country music icons released a lyric video today, which you can watch above.

“Merle is one-of-a-kind,” Williams stated. “Making this song was simple; it maybe took two takes, then we spent the rest of the time laughing and telling old road stories.”

Williams will perform at the fifth annual “Bash on Broadway” on New Year’s Eve in Nashville this year, following his reception of the 2013 Operation troop Aid “Patriot Award” for his support of those serving in the military and their families.
