John Kadlecik Band Confirm Intimate Holiday Shows

Furthur guitarist and founding member of Dark Star Orchestra John Kadlecik will play two nights at Falls Church, VA’s State Theater on December 5 and 6 with the band that bears his name. The shows promise to feature a different set list each night. Tickets to each show are available via the State Theater’s website. Fans can purchase tickets in a package for $20 or single day for $12 advance and $15 day of show.

Along with the two JKB shows, the guitarist will perform a pair of solo shows at Will’s Tower in Chicago and Martyr’s in Chicago when Kadlecik supports Bombino.

maybe play some originals and make an actual name for yourself, Dead cover bands are dime a dozen these days.

You’ve obviously never seen John K Band. He does play a lot of originals and some of them are pretty damn good.

While not a monster JK fan, I gotta say the vitriol is unnecessary and lame. Hope John K’s got himself a thick skin for jamband “fans” (not) like the maestros above. Tools. Rock on!

Give JK a break, the guy can play his ass off You’d never see anyone on here bashing Jimmy Herring for playing other people’s music. LOTS of band players DO NOT write all of their own music. It DOES NOT mean they suck.

In addition to the fun covers that folks want to hear, John K. Band will be performing original music, as they do at nearly every show. Haters will be haters, what can you do? But, the band will have original music in the sets, both shows will feature completely different set lists, with no repeats. There will be original poster artwork available specific to these shows, and the band will have original albums available from band members, as well as the album that John K did with the Mix, American Spring- which has been largely unavailable before- and features Melvin Seals. So folks who want original music, it’ll be in the set and on the merch table.

The Grateful Dead were about having a good time. Playing music they loved, and their fans loved. Unity and forward thinking. People go to the shows for the music, the atmosphere, the dancing, and the awesome people you meet. All John K is doing is keeping that legacy alive. If you’ve been to a John K Band show, you would know that it is the same spirit that The Grateful Dead brought us. He is truly keeping the music, and the scene alive. Hell, The Grateful Dead played tons of covers, but made them fun. I’m glad haters are not going to his shows, makes the crowd more fun keeping the vibe alive. “The music never stopped”

Attention all haters: JKB has a huge local following in the DC area, where all the band members live, and John et al play their collective asses off for our tribe. It’s a fantastic show every year. There, now you’re less ignorant.

Well now…The fact that he helped start DSO and was chosen to play in Furthur is an accomplishment none of you bitter slackers could ever match. We love him, the folks in his band are super talented, and we are lucky to have him here in DC.
