Bassist Victor Wooten will hit the road beginning tonight in Chattanooga, TN as The Wooten Brothers tour kicks off. Victor will be joined by all of his brothers, Regi (guitar), Roy (drums) and Joseph (keys). Victor and Roy (Futureman) play together in Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, however the band is currently on an indefinite hiatus.

In a statement, Wooten said, “each night will be funky, jazzy, improvisational, and sensational as we journey through the many musical phases of our lives. As well as covering original songs from our 1980s Arista Records release, we’ll be covering songs from some of our favorite artists including James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson Five, Jimi Hendrix, Return To Forever, and more.”

All the surviving Wooten Brothers rarely tour together. As the bassist explains, “Roy and I have been very busy the last few decades performing with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. The same goes for Joseph as he continues to tour as the keyboardist for The Steve Miller Band. Regi, The Teacher, continues to teach and perform weekly while also making frequent trips to Europe to teach and perform. We lost our saxophonist brother Rudy, sadly and unexpectedly, a few years ago. The rest of us felt that we couldn’t wait any longer to come together once again to express our musical selves to the world. We know that brother Rudy will be with us in spirit. We will be playing for him.”
