Bernie Worrell Joins Marco Benevento in Philadelphia

Parliament-Funkadelic/Talking heads keyboardist Bernie Worrell joined Marco Benevento during his show at The Blockley in Philadelphia, PA on Friday night. The keyboardist joined sat in on The Knife’s “Heartbeats,” a song Benevento regularly covers with his trio. Bernie Worrell’s Orchestra along with Scott Metzger opened the show for Benevento.

In addition to the show, Benevento played a special VIP pre-party on Friday night where he spoke about meeting Bernie and played some songs at Jolly’s dueling piano bar.

Not to take away form Marc Benevento. He is an amazing musician and I like his work… but it is a sad day when Bernie Worrell is opening for him.. Bernie is one of the most influential keyboard players in music history, especially for jambands and hip hop artists. Truly a living legend.
