Dave Matthews Band stepped off stage in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last night after a headlining set at Summer Break Festival. The band dug into some of their more classic material including “Seek Up,” “Crush” and the trio of “So Much to Say,” “Anyone Seen the Bridge” and “Too Much.” While recent festival sets focused on newer material from 2012’s Away From the World and 2009’s Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, DMB leaned on some of their most popular songs over the course of the show.

Following a pairing of “Lie in Our Graves” and “Satellite,” the band brought out longtime collaborator Carlos Malta. The flutist is a native of Brazil and last sat in with DMB during their 2013 summer tour on July 20 when Malta joined the band in West Palm Beach, FL for “Jimi Thing” and one of the best versions of “Lie in Our Graves” in recent memory. Last night, Malta once again lent his flute to “Jimi” as well as the Under the Table and Dreaming classic, “Typical Situation.”

With the news breaking in November that the band is recording a new album, DMB took time to break out their newest composition, the brief “Kill the Preacher” before the closing run of “Why I Am” and “Ants Marching.” A single encore of “All Along the Watchtower” closed the show.

Dave Matthews Band’s tour continues December 11 with a show in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
