LCD Soundsystem will release a live album of their final show at Madison Square Garden. Frontman James Murphy revealed the news in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, saying that it took a long time to make the record because the group, which disbanded in 2011, is no longer on a label. There is currently no word on when the live album will be released.
LCD Soundsystem abruptly called it quits almost three years ago, but the band went out with a bang—scheduling a multi-night run at New York City’s Terminal 5 before playing their last show at Madison Square Garden with a slew of special guests such Arcade Fire and Reggie Watts on April 2, 2011. That performance was immortalized in the 2012 concert film Shut Up and Play the Hits.
