Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe Announce New Album & Tour, Release Single with Nicki Bluhm

Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe have announced that they will release a new studio album, dubbed New Ammo, on February 4 via Stoopid Records. In anticipation of the new record, the funk band released its first single, “My Baby”—which featuring Nicki Bluhm on vocals—on Paste yesterday.

The new release is a marked departure from the more roots-oriented feel of its predecessor, 2009’s Brother’s Keeper, mainly due to the doubling-up of the band’s already blistering horn section and their foray into a heavier rock vibe.

In support of New Ammo, Denson and his crew have also announced a number of winter tour dates. These new shows are in addition to the see their previously announced appearances at Jam Cruise and Costa Rica’s Jungle Jam. KDTU will devote select dates to the Ray Charles Boogaloo Dance Party with Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers and Zach Deputy.

You can check our recent interview with Denson, in which he discusses his Ray Charles tribute shows, here.
