New York-via-New Jersey rock band RANA reunited for the first time since 2010 on Friday night. The performance took place at Brooklyn, NY’s Freddy’s Bar Back Room as part of Furthur drummer Joe Russo’s birthday party. The band’s classic lineup—keyboardist Matt Durant, bassist Andrew Southern, guitarist Scott Metzger and drummer Ryan Thornton—ran through a set of originals that included “Charm Bracelet,” “For Sometime,” “Carbombed Again,” “Backstage Pass” and “Whenever You Can.” They also played a variation of “Happy Birthday” for Russo, and the birthday boy himself took over on drums for a bit. The drummer is a longtime friend of the band and has collaborated with the members of the group in numerous projects.

Metzger, Durant and Thornton recently shared the stage as part of The Complete Last Waltz show at New York’s Capitol Theatre. Russo and Metzger will return to the Cap on December 27 for the Joe Russo’s Almost Dead concert.
