Roosevelt Collier, Future Man and Jerry Douglas Sit In with Yonder in Boulder

Roosevelt Collier, Futureman and Jerry Douglas joined Yonder Mountain String Band throughout the first three nights of their New Year’s run at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO over the weekend.

Collier joined the group on pedal steel for the duration of their first show on Friday night, while Futureman took the stage for a “Shake Me Up” that was sandwiched between ““If You’re Ever In Oklahoma” to close out the second set before returning for “Yes She Do” and “New Speedway Boogie” during the encore.

Futureman was back again the following night to help wrap up their first and second sets. The percussionist—who also plays with Béla Fleck and the Flecktones—came out for “Just Like Old Times,” “Criminal,” “Lonesome Letter,” “Fingerprint,” “Kentucky Mandolin” and “Death Trip” at the end of set one before returning for “Rag Doll,” “Don’t Worry Happy Birthday,” “Pockets,” “Straight Line,” “Robots” and a set-closing “Whipping Post” before helping out with ““Steep Grade Sharp Curve” and “2 Hits and the Joint Turned Brown” during the encore. Lap steel/ resonator guitar player Jerry Douglas also sat in with Yonder last night for the entry of their performance.

Yonder Mountain String Band will make their way back to the Boulder Theater tonight and tomorrow, and Sam Bush will be joining for their December 31 show.
