STS9 got some help from horn players Russ Liquid, GharlyG and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League’s Kenny “Barto” Bartolomei during their show at the Tabernacle in Atlanta last night. It was the third show of the band’s five-night New Year’s run at the venue.

Russ Liquid and GharlyG sat in with the band during the first set for a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Simulator and rendition of “2001 (Also Sprach Zarathustra).” The duo then returned to open the second set with a take on Outkast’s “SpottieOttieCopalicious” that was followed by “Vibyl.” The horn players also came back out—this time with Bartolomei—for the encore cover of King Tubby’s “King Pharoah’s Dub” (aka “King Pharaoh’s Tomb”), which also featured an appearance by a stage crashing fan.

STS9 will return to the Tabernacle tonight and tomorrow night for the final shows of their New Year’s run.
