Last night Umphrey’s McGee hosted a “Bill Graham for a Day” show in Denver at the 500 capacity 1 Up – Colfax. Those who held tickets to the sold-out event received ballots via email permitting them to vote on the group’s two fan-curated sets. The evening also featured over 50 classic arcade and pinball games that were free to concertgoers. As for the music, Umphrey’s busted out two covers, a version of Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” that closed out the first set as well as a take on Pleasure’s 1979 hit “Glide” that appeared during set two. The night also featured an “Auld Lang Syne jam” during “2×2” and a take on “Blue Echo” that lighting director Jeff Waful described as “the highlight of the run.” Umphrey’s McGee will close out the year this evening at the Fillmore Auditorium.
