The Disco Biscuits celebrated the 15th anniversary of their first New Year’s Eve show/the debut of Jon “Barber” Gutwillig’s Hot Air Balloon rock opera with a marathon, three-set performance at The Theater at Madison Square Garden last night.

The first set got going just before the clock struck midnight with “Plan B” and “Little Lai” before the band counted down to the New Year during a cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing In The Name.” That tune was followed by a “Helicopters” that featured altered lyrics—with “Happy New Year” replacing the “Helicopters” line. An inverted “And The Ladies Were The Rest of The Night” then came next before the last portion of “Confrontation” rounded out the set.

The Disco Biscuits returned for a high-octane second set, which consisted of chopped up versions of “House Dog Party Favor,” “Hot Air Balloon” and “Shelby Rose, as well as a full “The City” and a dubbed out rendition of “Floodlights.” A quick break followed before the band came back out once more for their third and final set, which kicked off with a “Chemical Warfare Brigade” that played into a “Strobelights and Martinis” that became the last section of “Shem Ra Boo.” “Thee Wishes” came next before turning into the opening section of “Confrontation.” That tune was followed by a powerful jam that consisted of “Memphis” and portions of “Chemical Warfare” and, finally, “Hot Air Balloon” to wrap up the set. Things then came to a close for good at nearly 5am with a “Hope” encore
