Robby Krieger and Gov’t Mule Revisit The Doors at The Beacon

Earlier this year, Gov’t Mule honored the music of The Doors with special guest Robby Krieger during shows at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles (October 30) and the Fox Theater in Oakland (October 31). Last night at New York’s Beacon Theatre the group welcomed Krieger once again for a set that focused on the Doors catalog. Gov’t Mule started things out with a set that spanned their own career, from “Temporary Saint” on their own self-titled debut through “No Reward” and “Funny Little Tragedy” from their latest record, Shout!. The band then returned with Krieger for fourteen songs, starting out with “Break On Through (To The Other Side),” “Peace Frog” and “People Are Strange.” They also joined forces on two selections that did not appear during their earlier collaborative performances, as Krieger and the Mule offered My Eyes Have Seen You” from The Doors second album, Strange Days, as well as “Love Her Madly” from the Doors’ final record, 1971’s L.A. Woman. Krieger also had joined the group on December 30 at the Beacon for their three song encore: “The Changeling,” “Cars Hiss By My Window” and “Five To One.” On Tuesday night Gov’t Mule delivered two encores of Doors material performing “Roadhouse Blues” and then retuning for “When The Music’s Over.”

The complete setlist appears below, drawn from our Box Scores section.
