Flaming Lips Bring The Beatles Covers on New Year’s Eve

The Flaming Lips covered a number of Beatles tunes during their special New Year’s Eve performance at the Belly Up in Aspen, CO on December 31. The band played eight different song by the Fab Four over the course of their 17-song set, including tracks from Revolver, The Beatles (aka The White Album), Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road. The Lips also made time for their own hits, such as “Do You Realize,” “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 1,” “The W.A.N.D.” and a “A Spoonful Weighs a Ton” finale.

In related news, The Flaming Lips also released a studio version of their Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds cover one day before their New Year’s celebration. The band also opened for the String Cheese Incident during their December 29 New Year’s run show at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, CO.

Never saw so many hipster glasses on people in one place! Looks like it was good way to spend NYE for art school students and etsy types.
