Keyboardist Marco Benevento celebrated New Year’s Eve close to his Woodstock, NY-area home with a performance at Levon Helm’s famed barn. Benevento opened the night with a set featuring his steady band, Ween bassist Dave Dreiwitz and drummer Andy Borger. The trio ran through a range of material, including “Fireworks,” “Escape Horse,” “This Is How It Goes,” “Two of You,” “Atari,” “It Came From You,” “If I Get To See You At All” and a medley of “Limbs Of A Pine” and “Jump Into The Fire” (Benevento recently recorded the latter tune for an upcoming Harry Nilsson tribute album.)

After finishing his own set, Benevento joined The Midnight Ramble Band on keyboardists throughout their entire headlining performance. He also showed off his vocal abilities on a cover of “Turn On Your Lovelight” and led Helm’s longtime collaborators through his own “The Real Morning Party.” Both Borger and Dreiwitz sat in on Benevento’s signature solo number as well as The Band sing-along “The Weight.” In addition, organist Jared Samuel of Superhuman Happiness augmented Benevento on a handful of songs throughout the night.

Benevento will kick off his winter tour in Syracuse, NY on January 23.
