Guster have announced that Shins keyboardist Richard Swift will produce their seventh studio album. The band’s three founding members are currently working with Swift on their first album since 2010 at the producer’s Portland, OR studio. Blue Merle founder Luke Reynolds, who has toured as an auxiliary member of Guster for the past four years, will also be part of the studio sessions. Swift, who is a noted indie pop solo artist in his own right, has produced the likes of Foxygen, Damien Jurado, The Mynabirds, Jessie Baylin and Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier.

As previously reported, Swift will also begin work on Marco Benevento’s next solo album later this year. Swift joined The Shins in 2011, replacing longtime Guster collaborator Eric Johnson.
