The Los Angeles Times has revealed that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are expected to join Bruno Mars on stage during his Super Bowl Halftime show. According to the Times, Mars is scheduled to officially announce that he has invited the group to appear at the big game during Fox’s coverage of tonight’s New Orleans Saints-Seattle Seahawks playoff game.

While the combination is certainly very odd, it is likely that the NFL is attempting to appeal to a more varied demographic. As of now, no details about the collaboration have been announced.

In related news, the Chili Peppers are slated to perform on February 1—the eve of the big game – at The Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY.
