Rubblebucket have signed their first record deal with Communion Records. The Brooklyn-based group will head to the studio later this month with producer John Congleton to record their new album for the label. Rubblebucket released a statement on their Facebook page Friday that reads:

Big news!

We just signed our first ever record deal, and our new album will now be coming out on Communion Records!!!!! Celebration time! After doing it DIY for so long we feel incredibly fortunate to have found a partner who shares our philosophies and values in music. On January 20th, we will head into the studio with producer John Congleton to record this baby for real. John has produced some fantastic records, including all of St. Vincent’s, the David Byrne/St. Vincent collab, The Black Angels, Xiu Xiu and more. Thanks so much to all of you who helped get us to this awesome moment! Here’s to keeping it moving!

The worst and most pretentious band I have ever seen. How they got a record deal is beyond me.

Well deserved and hopefully a good partnership. They are braking musical boundaries and are not for everyone. I wouldn’t be surprised if they wrote a song that the whole world could sing. Bjork did!
