Widespread Panic have announced the dates for their upcoming Wood Tour and their upcoming Spring Tour. The band will play six acoustic “Wood” shows—a format they developed in 2012 and documented on their 2012 acoustic live album of the same name—including three shows at The National in Richmond, VA and two shows at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Panic will then head to the Domincan Republic for Panic en la Playa before making their the way to the West Coast for a series of dates, including two-night stands in Oakland and Los Angeles. As previously reported, the band have also confirmed two nights at the Azalea Festival in Wilimgton, NC in April and two nights at the Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, VA in September.

So these guys are musically proficient, and I’d like to catch em live I think… But does their single sound like Meatloaf to anyone else? I find it so distracting that I have a hard time getting into their music because I feel like I’m sitting there listening to Meatloaf the whole time.

Finally, some SoCal love!

timmy January 13, 2014, 14:45:08

Yes, Josh. They are like Meatloaf in every way. That is a brilliant observation on your part. So, that being the case, please don’t go to their shows.

wsmfp January 13, 2014, 15:00:15

derpa January 13, 2014, 15:00:27

Impressed that WSP will go from California to Reno Virginia and then back to California in a matter of a few hours. That tour bus must get good gas mileage.

Widespread Panic is the modern day Boston, every song sounds the same.

Josh January 13, 2014, 17:51:07

I didn’t say they were like Meatloaf in every way, just that their singer sounds like Meatloaf to me. I have a couple live shows on my ipod but to be absolutely, perfectly honest when I listen to them I hear Meatloaf singing the whole time. I don’t want to, but there it is.

Rod Stiffington January 13, 2014, 19:24:55

Chilly Water sounds like Cotton was King?

Josh January 13, 2014, 21:29:12

steve January 13, 2014, 21:51:17

Karl January 13, 2014, 23:38:53

Reno, NV…..not Reno, VA

Steve b January 14, 2014, 08:20:49

The problem is that your already intimately know meatloafs Voice… U are the weakest link

solidrock January 14, 2014, 09:27:46

Wow, wsmfp compared to Boston and Meatloaf on the same thread….strange days indeed.
Cotton and Chilly were both written by Bloodkin….every band resembles themselves.

Josh January 14, 2014, 10:09:15

Only the vocals resemble Meat Loaf. The musicianship is top-notch and not comparable to Meat Loaf at all.

never seen them do acoustic live, heard some tapes and it’s just not right. Panic should be loud and plugged in. The Ryman is perfect for an acoustic show and I’ll take what I can get. Ratdog plays the Ryman the night after the 2nd show, so maybe we’ll have some cross over there.

saw jb break out acoustic in new hampshire years ago was awesome ahh boston and meatloaf u need your ears checked I mean it is to me a welcomed change to hear something different in pace and sound then the three minutes and out of modern rock concerts at least there is an element of a show and originallity with a mix of remakes thrown in. your either not enuff or to high- how was summer tour missed it ? had friends get busted is the scene still cool ? they don’t sell out in new england bummer

ultimatelywhogivesaf#ck January 16, 2014, 12:54:38

they are not good enough for NE..they tried..they suck.Better for people in south who dont see real talents

nickt1631 January 23, 2014, 10:04:18

^^^^^^^ by far the dumbest post I have ever seen on any thread.

joey c January 28, 2014, 11:53:48

That meat loaf thing is the funniest thing I have heard in along time. Priceless how fucking funny would it be to have him jamming with the band I think it’s a great idea. Dress big dace up like the Loaf. WOOOOOO!!! BABY

Mic April 4, 2014, 12:38:31

Man I wish Panic would cover some Meatloaf… or at least eat some.
