U2 will be the first musical guests on The Tonight Show when Jimmy Fallon takes over from Jay Leno. Fallon’s music booker, Jonathan Cohen, revealed the news via his Twitter yesterday. Other sources have also reported that Will Smith will make an appearance on that first episode as well.

In related news, U2 recently picked up an Academy Award nomination for their song “Ordinary Love,” which appears in the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, and the Irish rockers have already won a Golden Globe for the same tune.

The first episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon will air on February 17 at midnight ET, following the broadcast of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
