Bob Weir, Preservation Hall Jazz Band Sit In with My Morning Jacket on Second Day of One Big Holiday

Photo by Wes Orshoski (from Night 1)

Bob Weir joined My Morning Jacket once again during last night’s performance at the band’s One Big Holiday destination festival at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico. MMJ were also joined by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band (whose latest album was produced by Jim James) for a number of tunes as well.

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band made their appearance a few songs into the second set for “Black Metal.” Weir came out next for a take on The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” before the Preservation Hall guys returned to help Weir and MMJ with Chuck Berry’s “You Never Can Tell” and Al Johnson’s New Orleans classic “Carnival Time.” Weir then exited as MMJ and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band put their spin on Curtis Mayfield’s “Move On Up.”

As previously reported, Weir sat in with My Morning Jacket for “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” “I Know You Rider” and “Brown-Eyed Women” on the first night of One Big Holiday. Weir appears to have stuck around the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya following Furthur’s recent Paradise Waits destination festival, which took place at the same location.

Of course some fag with a “DJ” name would hate on Bob Weir. Go eat some more bath salts and date rape more 16 year olds in dayglo.

The Chuck Berry song you are referring to is called “Cest La Vie”, not “You Never Can Tell”. Do your research and be professional!

Actually, “Cest La Vie” is the common name, the copyrighted name is actually “Teenage Wedding”. Still, you obviously are too young and inexperienced to be reporting on the likes of Bob Weir and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Go get some knowledge and come back to work when you’ve learned something!

Whoa Ho Ho Hetti (Hetti? wtf?)...Looks like you took the ol’ DJ’s bait and ran with it. The DJ blushes at your homoerotic suggestion, but we are actually sexually agnostic…Never tried the bath salts, hell I havent’t even taken a bath for 12 years or so…date rape sounds like fun though, but I prefer figs!
