Tonight’s Super Bowl may end up featuring some references to Phish’s “Wilson,” but it looks like moe. are getting some love from an event of arguably equal importance. The band revealed today that moe. guitarist Al Schnier wrote the fight songs and halftime music for the 2014 Puppy Bowl, which will is being broadcast this afternoon. The band also got a shout out from one of the Puppy Bowl’s contestants—a 12 week old boxer named August that “wants to follow the band moe. across the country.”

moe. also had some fun with their friends the Conehead Buddha Horns last night at The Tabernacle in Atlanta. The guests took the stage during the first set for “Akimbo,” “Happy Hour Hero,” “Wicked Awesome” (which also featured some freestyle rapping from trumpeter Terry Lynch) and “Spanish Moon.” Tenor saxophonist Shannon Lynch then returned during set two for “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” before switching over to flute for “New York City. The full horn section then came back out for “Spaz Medicine,” “Plane Crash,” “Nebraska,” “Not Coming Down” and “Late in the Evening.” They also helped moe. wrap up their encore with a show-closing “The Wizard.”
