Ringo Starr joined Broken Bells—The Shins’ James Mercer and producer Danger Mouse—for a cover of The Beatles’ 1964 classic “And I Love Her” last night on The Late Show with David Letterman. The collaboration was the first of Letterman’s Beatles Week, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four’s arrival in the United States and their subsequent performance on the Ed Sullivan Show ( The Late Show is shot in the same theater as the iconic program).

Letterman will welcome Sting for a rendition of “Drive My Car” tonight, while The Flaming Lips and Sean Lennon will take on “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” tomorrow night. Thursday will feature Lenny Kravitz performing and yet-to-be-revealed tune, and Friday’s performance has not been announced.
