moe. Celebrate 25 Years of The Wetlands with Plenty of Guests, Cover Debuts

moe. got some help from a stellar assortment of guests during last night’s Wetlands 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. The band, who played the Wetlands Preserve on numerous occasions, were joined by various other musicians with ties to the iconic New York City venue, which first opened its doors in 1989.

moe. got going with standard takes on “New York City” and “Y.O.Y.” before the night’s first guest—keyboardist Nate Wilson of Percy Hill—came out for “Nebraska.” Wilson and moe. were then joined by all three of The Ringers’ guitarists for different tunes, with Wayne Krantz sitting in for “Blue Jeans Pizza,” Michael Landau sitting in on “Plane Crash” and Jimmy Herring contributing his chops to “Buster.” The set then wrapped up with a guest-filled rendition of The Grateful Dead classic “Sugaree” that featured appearances by Wilson, Herring, Reid Genauer, Scott Murawski and John Leccese. It was the first time that moe. had ever performed the song.

Wilson, Genauer, Murawski and Leccese came back out with moe. as they opened the second set with “Mexico.” Herring then joined the bunch for the band’s debut of Strangefolk’s “Speculator,” which was followed by their first-ever rendition of Derek and The Dominos’ “Keep On Growing.” Next, Murawski and Wilson stuck around for ““She,” before Murawski was replaced by Genauer and Leccese for an unfinished take on the “The Road” that segued into a set-closing “Timmy Tucker.” Wilson, Genauer and Murawski then helped moe. wrap up the show with The Band’s “Up On Cripple Creek.”

moe. will continue their Wetlands 25th Anniversary Celebration tonight with special guests John Medeski, Aaron Maxwell, David Mascucci, Peter Prince, Fuzz and Jen Durkin. Tickets to the show are still on sale.
