New Late Night band via Seth Meyers’ Twitter account

Fred Armisen will lead and curate the Late Night band when his former SNL co-star Seth Meyers takes over the show next week. The Portlandia star—who has played a number of bands throughout his career—will be joined by bandmates Seth Jabour (guitar), Kimberley Thompson (drums), Eli Janney (keyboards) and Syd Butler (bass).

As previously reported, The Roots will join Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show when he starts his run as host of the long-running talk show on February 17. In order to create a classic, soul feel reminiscent of the classic Tonight Show, The Roots will throw a horn section into the mix when they move to the new program. One of their new players will be Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings trumpeter David Guy, who also joined Phish for their Exile on Main Street musical costume at Festival 8 back in 2009. Guy’s credits also include work with Antibalas, Menahan Street Band, Amy Winehouse, The New Pornographers, Charles Bradley and The Sugarman 3, among others.

You can watch Fallon and The Muppets play a rendition of The Band’s classic “The Weight” on the final episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon here.
