Galactic Welcomes JJ Grey, Bill Evans and More in NYC

Galactic got some help from JJ Grey, Bill Evans, Maggie Koerner and more when they swung through The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY and Terminal 5 in New York City over the weekend. Koerner joined them during much of their sets on both nights, just as she did for most of their tour. JJ Grey also sat in both nights for “Higher and Higher,” a track that he and Galactic premiered on last week.

Evans made his appearance at The Capitol Theatre on Friday night when he took the stage for a few tunes following Grey’s sit in. Galactic were also joined by some of the Mofro horns on Saturday night at Terminal 5, while saxophonist Ben Ellman’s cousin Lucas Ellman sat in for an extended sax solo during “From The Corner to Block.”

Galactic will return to the stage for a series of Mardi Gras shows, with one gig scheduled in Mobile, AL on February 28 and two more scheduled in New Orleans for March 1 and 3.

To prove i’m not always negative as some say, I will now say ALL of the above musician Galactic, Mofro and Bill Evans are GREAT. All are true artists not making a living off the past (Phil Lesh)which is what I always rail against.

But because your a douche, I will take the liberty to call out your poor grammar. “I will now say ALL of the above musician Galactic” In the English language, we pluralize words.

I would like to make a minor correction here: Bill Evans played with JJ Grey & Mofro during our set. Mr. Evans did not jam with Galactic in Port Chester. And he killed it!
