Mike Gordon and Scott Murawksi debuted a few Overstep songs during their brief acoustic performance at Newbury Comics in Boston yesterday afternoon. The duo worked their way through the first-ever “Long Black Line,” “Peel” and “Tiny Little World” before wrapping things up with “Yarmouth Road,” a tune that became a part of Phish’s repertoire after the band debuted it at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center this past summer.

In related news, Gordon and Murawski also participated in a Reddit AUA (Ask Us Anything) before yesterday’s performance. The pair answered a number of fan questions, though they didn’t offer that much in the way of information. Nevertheless, there were some interesting tidbits, such as:

– Gordon would like to tour with Leo Kottke again, but he is “just waiting for our schedules to permit.”

– The members of Phish never read reviews of their work.

– Gordon’s favorite song on Overstep right now is “Jumping.”

– If he had to listen to one album for the rest of his life, Gordon would listen to an ambient record of a coffee shop.

– Gordon does not call his touring band the Mike Gordon Band, though he understands why people would. The group is still working on a name.

– Gordon also told everyone a cool story: “Once upon there was a croissant named Thomas. It had emailed his mom, but didn’t know if her wifi was working, nor her airport. The End”

As previously reported, Gordon joined Bob Weir & RatDog for “Bird Song” in Boston on Monday night.
