Laura Bloch, who co-founded New York City’s Wetlands Preserve along with her husband Larry back in 1989 has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a book that will compile the venue’s monthly calendars between the years of 1989-1997.

To help further promote the project, Laura has provided Relix with an exclusive image from the book (above) as well as some text about her vision as well as what longtime customers of the Wetlands can look forward to in this compilation.

Read Laura’s words below and click the link posted to find out how you can donate to Wetlands Preserve: The Early Calendar Years February 1989 – February 1997.

The New York City nightclub Wetlands Preserve was built as a home to many different tribes. I couldn’t fit them all into this first 2-page spread but each one is assured to be represented in this bound collection – Wetlands Preserve: The Early Calendar Years. It was Larry’s dream to pass on his memorabilia and to recognize so many others that helped create the early scene in what has been recognized since its closing as a historic venue

The documentary movie directed by Dean Budnick did its best to cover it all but certainly it would have been impossible to give mention to everything that happened over the span of 13 years of music and activism. This publication will attempt to do that. Every play that didn’t make the print deadline will be put into place. This book will be considered for sale at the Rock Hall of Fame if we meet our goal to go to press.

Larry’s vision for this book was to fill it with as much interesting stuff as we could to make it something you’d never feel you’d fully seen the first few times viewed. He wanted everyone represented, everyone to have a voice, hence the fans comment and suggestions flower power! It is my goal to have it priced for affordability by most. At $25 it’s cheaper than a t-shirt and delivered to your mailbox this summer.

We have one more week to fund this KickStarter Project and with your per-orders and get this to press. Many thanks.
