Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and Mike Dillon Band to Team Up for Spring Tour
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and The Mike Dillon Band will hit the road for a 16-date joint tour later this month. The two bands will kick things off in Boulder on March 19 before hitting up a number of cities out West over the course of the next few weeks.
The co-bill has some historical significance for the two groups, as Dillon and the members of JFJO have collaborated in various capacities over the last two decades.
“The first time I saw Mike Dillon he was buck ass naked taking a timbale solo with Billy Goat at Eclipse in Tulsa,” says JFJO pianist Brian Haas. “I was 17 and it changed my life forever. Now JFJO is doing an entire tour with this amazing man and his brilliant band. We can’t wait to get out there and play these shows.”
The Mike Dillon Band will be performing in support of their forthcoming album, Band of Outsiders (set for release on April 1), while JFJO will be celebrating their 20th anniversary and supporting their limited edition LP Millions: Live In Denver (set for release on Record Store Day). Both albums will be released by the independent, Brooklyn-based label The Royal Potato Family.
