Nine Inch Nails is currently in the midst of a co-headlining tour with Queens of the Stone Age in Australia. However, it appears as if the band may already have another co-bill in store for the summer. According to The PRP, LiveNation briefly posted the above listing for a Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden show on August 17 in Dallas.

Of course, the listing was quickly pulled, however both bands then shared videos featuring a barrage of images of various cities and venues. NIN’s video highlighted the cities, while Soundgarden’s featured pictures of various amphitheaters.

While NIN and Soundgarden have never exclusively toured together, their histories have been intertwined throughout the years. This year in particular, both groups celebrated the 20th anniversary of two albums released on the same day, as NIN’s The Downward Spiral and Soundgarden’s Superunknown both turned twenty on March 8.

The release sparked a bit of a rivalry between the two in 1994, culminating at a festival gig in Toronto that year, where NIN would aim to asset their dominance over Soundgarden. As Trent Reznor explained in a 2009 interview, “We had a chip on our shoulder about Soundgarden because their record [Superunknown] came out the same day Downward Spiral came out and they beat us to #1 on Billboard. That became a kind of professional showdown. And we did show them.”

Nine Inch Nails delivered a set that is still revered by fans, while Soundgarden fell flat, mostly due to Cornell’s strained vocals, a problem that would repeatedly hamper Soundgarden’s ability.
