Allman Brothers to Play At Fillmore East at Lockn’ Festival

The Lockn’ Festival has revealed that the Allman Brothers Band will be performing their classic 1971 live album At Fillmore East during their appearance at this year’s event. The announcement comes on the 43rd anniversary of the classic LPs recording at the legendary New York City rock club.

As previously reported, the 2014 Lockn’ Festival will also feature performances by Phil Lesh and Friends (two nights), Bob Weir and RatDog (two nights), The String Cheese Incident (two nights), Widespread Panic (two nights, including one with Steve Winwood sitting in), Willie Nelson, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and Gary Clark Jr.—with many more to be added.

The Allman Brothers Band’s At Fillmore East performance will be similar to one of last year’s Further sets, which saw the band play the Grateful Dead’s album Workingman’s Dead in its entirety. That set also included a special appearance by Trey Anastasio, who sat in on “Casey Jones,” as well as a few other tunes that weren’t from Workingman’s Dead.

The 2014 Lockn’ Festival will take place September 4-7 at the Oak Ridge Farm in Arrington, VA. Tickets for the event are still on sale.

At Fillmore East tracklist:

1. Stateboro Blues
2. Done Somebody Wrong
3. Stormy Monday
4. You Don’t Love Me/Soul Serenade
5. Hot ‘Lanta
6. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
7. Whipping Post

Really went out on a limb here. Little strange they picked a live album with songs that have all been in heavy rotation for some time now. Love the album though.

Ya know, I don’t mind that you’re shilling for your own gig here, but journalistic ethics demands that your state Jambands.com’s (and Relix’s) ownership connections to this festival. If you want to be taken seriously. It’s not quite as bad as twenty years ago when Toni Brown constantly reminded us that Jorma could do no wrong, but it’s close.

Minor nit-pick:
Soul Serenade was not done during the Fillmore East… You Don’t Love Me does have kick ass guitar breakdown on the Fillmore though…
Soul Serenade is from a live radio show in NYC. - I also find it a strange announcement. Just go out there and kick ass. Its what they do best. Everyone knows/love the Fillmore. No need to promote it. Allmans are the best!

Le plus beau solo de blues de tous les temps, celui de Duane sur Stormy Monday, qui va le jouer?

pegidi March 16, 2014, 01:35:37

Well, I saw em with Duane in Passaic, and I saw em at Peach last year, and a whole bunch a times in between over them 44 years. I’ll be at Peach and Lockn this year, am stoked that they are gonna do Live at Fillmore East. It’s just a great set list if nothin else!

Lightnin' March 16, 2014, 05:50:41

I got to see it the first time it came around 43 years ago.

Jim Locke March 16, 2014, 12:30:45

And I’d bet they’ll end up with Mountain Jam… it’s part of the album, too.

Andrea March 16, 2014, 17:56:04

Ummm… What about Dreams?

anon March 18, 2014, 12:36:34

Dear Article Writer: The band is Furthur, not Further.
