Widespread Panic, John Fogerty, moe., Umphrey’s McGee, The Disco Biscuits Featuring Mickey Hart & Bill Kreutzmann, Edward Sharpe and More Confirmed for Gathering of the Vibes

Widespread Panic, John Fogerty, moe. and Umphrey’s McGee are among the acts slated to appear at the 2014 Gathering of the Vibes. The veteran summer music festival will return to Bridgeport, CT’s Seaside Park from July 31-August 3. In an unexpected turn of events, the Disco Biscuits will play a special set with Grateful Dead drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann. The festival announced its lineup during the Kung Fu and Deep Banana Blackout show at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre last night.

This year’s festivities will boast both Widespread Panic and John Fogerty’s first performances at Gathering of the Vibes. Since Fogerty performed with Panic at the inaugural Lockn’ Festival this past September, some collaboration seems possible. The Disco Biscuits—who announced earlier this week that their annual Camp Bisco festival will take a hiatus this summer—have not performed at Vibes since 2001. This is the first time since 2004 that neither Bob Weir nor Phil Lesh is on the festival’s lineup. However, in addition to Hart and Kreutzmann’s set with the Disco Biscuits, Vibes will maintain its focus on Grateful Dead-related projects through performances by Dark Star Orchestra. Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and Keller Williams Grateful Grass.

Other acts of note include: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, White Denim, Maceo Parker, Slightly Stoopid, Dumpstaphunk, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Leftover Salmon featuring Little Feat’s Bill Payne, Ryan Montbleau & Friends, Kung Fu and American Babies, among others. EOTO, Deep Banana Blackout, Dopapod and Digital Tape Machine will perform “late night ranger sets.” Wavy Gravy will serve as the event’s MC.

Tickets are available now on GOTV’s website. Check out the full lineup below.

I don’t see Max Creek , or any of Joe Gallant’s projects ( Illuminati Orchestra , Day-GloSkull Rings ) . With Scott Murawski (Creek ) touring with Mike Gordon ( Phish ) I was really hoping to see them as well . Just sayin’ , if the line-up isn’t final , these are ideas to consider !

Where is Turkuaz?

So is this just Camp Bisco with another name? Do the Biscuits close every night and the fest this year? I heard rumors that the lineup may change. I’m thinking we get additional members like Jennifer Hartswick and Kaki King to fill in the space anytime one of the boyz needs a bump and burger break midset. It’s cool to see Fogerty and Panic pay their respect to the Biscuits, as I assume TDB will give them an hour midday on a side stage. They are the only band touring heavily that invented their kind of music. They work so damn hard on the band, that it just amazes me how they keep growing.

Jesse, Mike Gordon will not be able to make it as Phish will still be on tour in Alabama. Alabama Getaway, anyone??

Pelham March 16, 2014, 10:30:19

Honestly Mike can keep his solo stuff in Alabama and wear his wing suit. I don’t need to hear that new garbage they have written. It’s pathetic, like Mike’s scarfs and kid pics.

I am so happy UM is playing the vibes. They have the hottest dudes and some play instruments. They have me and my boyfriend on a puppet string. I go to their shows for the open communal atmosphere of acceptance and participation off stage. I had a dream about sleeping with them all at the same time, and then they all raised to the heavens from my bed singing Triple Wide in Harmony. Those may have been grunts of pleasure through pain, because I don’t know if that song has words. Maybe they were trying to tell me they were going to the Vibes.

Not trying to be mean but have you never heard of vibes Just cuz Camp isn’t happening doesnt mean thebiscuits Just get to go ahead and make any festival they choose theirs. Like Come-on dude if they were gonna be playing more than one set it would say it on the lineup…
