The Barr Brotherss performed at the Secret City Records/Opak showcase at St. David’s Bethell Hall in Austin, TX as part of SXSW. Other acts that performed included MaicaMia, Leif Vollebekk, Thus Owls, Basia Bulat and Timber Timbre. The Barrs closed the show and previewed several songs from their forthcoming sophomore album, which is due out on Secret City later this year. Thus Owls’ Stef Schneider and Leif Vollebekk sat in on a new song called Come in the Water. Other new song highlights included the psychedelic “Love Ain’t Enough” and the bluesy “Half Crazy.”

Brad Barr also led a moment of silence—part of a festival wide moment of silence—for the victims of the tragic drunk driving accident. He even went so far as to turn off his amp, so there is no buzz, and remarked that one of the scariest parts of dying is feeling that life goes on without and he made a point to say that the victims should know “life is not going on as usual” without them.
