The Flaming Lips are organizing a remake of The Beatles’ famed Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band and have recruited the likes of Tame Impala, MGMT and Miley Cyrus to help them do it. After recording full cover albums of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, The Stone Roses’ self-titled debut and King Crimson’s In the Court of the Crimson King, Wayne Coyne and company have reportedly turned their focus to The Fab Four.

Steven Drozd of The Lips told Rock Sucker that Wayne Coyne is in the process of recruiting Tame Impala, with Phantogram and Foxygen also potentially on the list. New Fumes and Brooke Kelty have also tweeted about their involvement.

Coyne and Cyrus were apparently in the studio recently to record “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” per the Instagram post below. Miley is a admittedly a huge Flaming Lips fan, as you can see in this video, where the singer invited Coyne and a few other members of the band on-stage during her show to perform “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.”
