Soulive were once again joined by a number of special guests during last night’s Bowlive show at the Brooklyn Bowl. Joe Russo sat in with the trio during the first set for “Up and Out” before the Shady Horns joined the fray during “For Granted.” The night’s opener—Jon Cleary—and Tedeschi Trucks Band vocalist Mark Rivers also came out for a set-closing “When You Get Back.”

Susan Tedeschi and her bandmate Rivers sat in for most of the second set, which included a take on the Tedeschi original “Butterfly.” The show also wrapped up with an exciting encore, which saw Tedeschi, Cleary, the Shady Horns, Russo and London Souls guitarist Tash Neal join Soulive for a rendition of Bobby Bland’s “Turn on Your Lovelight.”

Bowlive will continue tonight with a performance by Soulive with special guests Talib Kweli, DMC (of Run DMC) and The Shady Horns. Alan Evans’ Playonbrother (formerly known as the Alan Evans Trio) will play an opening set.
