"Spare Parts" Fundraiser to Be Held For Tower of Power Bassist Francis Rocco Prestia

Tower of Power bassist Francis Rocco Prestia, 63, is in need of a life-saving kidney transplant. To help raise funds for the transplant, friends of Prestia will hold a special “Spare Parts” dance party and concert fundraiser on March 30 at the Arts at the Armory in Somerville, MA. The Berklee College of Music’s Tower of Power Ensemble, led by music director Ken Zambello, will perform with Tower of Power alumnus (and Saturday Night Live music director) Lenny Pickett. Other special guests will also perform.

The legendary bassist underwent a lifesaving liver transplant and open heart surgery within the last 10 years. He is currently not performing or touring with Tower of Power due to his current health status.

Prestia recently registered on MatchingDonors.com in hopes of finding a match. If you believe you are a match, register here to become a potential donor.

I’m pretty sure I played bass for the band when we met Herbie Hancock in the 1970’s but I will offer up some steroids for the cause.
