The Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story to Be Released on DVD

Eagle Rock Entertainment will release The Pink Floyd & Syd Barrett Story on May 20. The 214-minute documentary chronicles the life and times of the prominent songwriter in the early Pink Floyd days. In addition to the film, fans will receive a bonus disc of uncut interviews with members of Pink Floyd and those close to Syd as well as additional bonus material.

Syd Barrett was an integral part of the band’s original sound and lyrics, crafting hits such as “Bike,” “Astronomy Domine” and more. He wrote predominately for the band’s debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Barrett departed the band in 1968 when his increasingly erratic behavior made his continued participation in the band impossible. Roger Waters, David Gilmour (who replaced Barrett), Nick Mason and Richard Wright will all voice their opinions and thoughts on Barrett’s work on and off the stage.

There would not be the pink floyd if it were not for Syd Barrett.

There would not be the Dave Matthews Band if it were not for Dave Matthews. Do you see how stupid that comment is?

This was first released in 2004 and is still available. Good documentary.

@Syd Lives: There is nothing stupid about your comment whatsoever. And the fact is, not everyone knows the truth about Syd’s crucial role in the existence of Pink Floyd. So yes, well-said!

Can’t believe I’m reading about Pink Floyd and then Dave Matthews in the same sentence. Kinda like an orgasm followed by vomit.
