Assembly of Wine made their debut at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre on Friday night. The group, which features Reid Genauer, Adam Terrell and Dave Diamond of Assembly of Dust and Aaron Maxwell, Jon Bevo and Dan Pifer of God Street Wine, played a mix of covers and originals from both the GSW, AOD and Strangefolk catalogs.

In an interesting move, Genauer took up vocal duties on a number of God Street Wine songs like “Chop!,” “Driving West” and “Borderline.” The set also featured takes on GSW’s “Waiting for the Tide,” “Goodnight Gretchen,” “Diana,” “Mile By Mile” and She Comes Up Softly,” as well as takes on “Speculator,” “Harrower,” “Man With a Plan,” Telling Sue,” “Samuel Aging” and “Lost & Amazed” from Genauer’s Assembly of Dust and Strangefolk canon. In addition, the band worked in a few cover tunes, such as Strangefolk’s arrangement of Derek & The Dominoes’ “Keep On Growing,” a set-closing rendition of Paul McCartney’s “I’m Amazed” and an encore version of The Band’s “The Shape I’m In.”
