Derek Trucks Joins Gov’t Mule at Wanee
Gov’t Mule got some help from guitarist and fellow Allman Brothers bandmate Derek Trucks during their set at Wanee last night. Trucks joined Warren Haynes and company for a take on “Stratus” towards the end of their set. In addition to the sit-in, Mule also worked in staples “World Boss” and “Mule” with a “Whole Lotta Love” snippet in the middle section. In addition, Haynes stayed up to sit in with Dumpstaphunk for some Led Zeppelin covers during their late-up set.
As previously reported, both Trucks and Haynes will move on from The Allman Brothers Band following their tour this year. Gregg Allman recently said that the band plans to replace Trucks, but offered no comment on the status of a Haynes replacement.
Next up for Mule is a trip down under as the band will perform at Byron Bay Bluesfest in Byron Bay, AUS as well as a pair of shows with special guest Gregg Allman in Sydney and Melbourne.
