Mike Dillon Joins Umphrey’s McGee in New Orleans

Umphrey’s McGee continued their run through the South last night with a stop at The Civic Theatre in New Orleans. During the first set, frequent collaborator Mike Dillon joined the band on vibes and percussion for “Muscle Shoals Nitty Gritty.” The last time the tune was played, February 19, 2013, Mike Dillon also joined in when his band supported UM during their winter tour.

Other highlights from the show included a pair of lengthy jams in the second set with staples “Hurt Bird Bath” and “Ocean Billy.” The band also dipped into their cover repertoire for The Cars’ “Just What I Needed” which debuted earlier this year during the band’s three night run in Chicago. Next up for Umphrey’s is a show in Dallas, TX tonight at the House of Blues.
