Umphrey’s McGee closed out their spring tour with a return to Stubbs in Austin, TX and were joined by Mike Dillon and Carly Meyers of Mike Dillon Band on a cover of Miles Davis’ “It’s About That Time.” Dillon previously sat in during the New Orleans show for “Muscle Shoals Nitty Gritty” and this time was joined by his trombonist Meyers, who hadn’t joined UM since February 16, 2013.

Additional highlights from the tour closer included the semi-rare “Out of Order” as well as an unusual combination of “Much Obliged” and the Jimmy Stewart-turned-song “Final Word.” The second set was anchored by some of UM’s classic staples including “Nothing Too Fancy,” “All in Time” and “The Floor” before the band brought out its guests to close the set. The encore featured a Huey Lewis & The News cover in “Heart and Soul” (which the band performed with Huey at Summercamp 2011) before the finale, “Bad Friday,” which is also the newest song in the UM catalog at the moment.

The band also announced prior to the show that they would donate proceeds from the show to the victims of the SXSW crash that occurred during the annual Austin, TX festival.

Next up for Umphrey’s is their annual UMBowl event on May 3 at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. The show is currently sold out.
