Aaron Freeman (formerly known as “Gene Ween”) has released his first post-Ween song, “(For A While) I Couldn’t Play My Guitar Like A Man.” The tune was first posted today via comedian and Tenacious D guitarist Jack Black’s Facebook page.

“(For A While) I Couldn’t Play My Guitar Like A Man” is set to appear on Freeman’s forthcoming album, FREEMAN The record, which features the musician’s first original material since disbanding Ween and getting sober, will be available on July 22. The new album finds Freeman backed by Kyle Keegan (drums), Dave Godowsky (keys), Chris Boerner (guitar), Joe Young (live bass) and Megafaun’s Brad Cook (studio bass). According to Black, the band will also go by the name FREEMAN.

FREEMAN will play their first show at the Mercury Lounge in New York City on July 22, the same day their debut album is released. The band has also confirmed a few other tour dates, which can be found on their website.

As previously reported, Freeman recently spoke with Rolling Stone about his new album, while also shooting down any possibility of a future Ween reunion.
