A number of artists have formed a supergroup to play the music of Nigerian funk legend William Onyeabor live for the first time ever in the United States. Onyeabor—best known for the hit “Better Change Your Mind”—stopped making music in the late 1980s after becoming a born-again Christian, and he never played any of his songs in a live setting.

David Byrne, Money Mark, Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem), Joshua Redman, Ghostpoet, Sinkane and more will team up for a series of shows—May 2 and 4 at BAM New York City, May 6 at The Warfield in San Francisco and May 8 at The Greek in Los Angeles—under the name Atomic Bomb. Nigerian icons the Lijadu Sisters will also take the stage for the first time in 30 years for the run. Additionally, Atomic Bomb will be joined by The Rapture’s Luke Jenner and Blood Orange’s Devonte Hynes for the NYC shows, while Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke will perform with them during the California shows.

Onyeabor’s music was performed live for the first time ever earlier this month, when Damon Albarn, Taylor, Okereke and Ghostpoet joined forces for shows at the Barbica Center in London and Colston Hall in Bristol.

Ticketing information for the upcoming shows can be found here, and more dates are expected to be added in the future.
