Arrested Development and Tom Marshall Are Writing Together

Phish collaborator Tom Marshall and hip hop group Arrested Development are apparently writing together, AD member Speech confirmed on the band’s Facebook.

Arrested Development was founded by Speech along with his then best friend Headliner in 1988. While the band’s lineup has changed over the years (Headliner is no longer in the group), they released their latest album Standing at the Crossroads in 2012. The band’s 1992 album 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days in the Life Of…. topped out at number seven on the charts in the US and number three in the UK.

That’s perfect. Neither have written anything worthwhile in 20 years.

So wrong Trey…I guarantee you haven’t delved into Speech or ADs material…it’s great! The fusion of these two worlds is blowing my mind!! So psyched!!

What’s this gonna be? Goofball nursery rhymes meet “the street”? Whats with the white T Shirts? Are they shooting a Gap Commercial, too? “Yo, we got 50 percent off casual wear mother f*cker!”

AD – Great. Marshall – Amazing, inspiring, thought-provoking. I look forward to this!

The AD unplugged stuff was great! The raw tracks were very funky!! They were not just a product of production… they clicked like a real band. Keep it weird Tom!!
