John Driskell Hopkins sat in with The String Cheese Incident on guitar and vocals during the second show of their two-night run at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, GA on Saturday. The Zac Brown Band multi-instrumentalist joined the group for a cover of Hank Williams’ “Your Cheatin’ Heart.”

The String Cheese Incident also took the stage at the Georgia Theatre on Friday night. That show featured covers of Vassar Clements’ “Lonesome Fiddle Blues,” Talking Heads’ “Life During Wartime” and The Allman Brothers Band’s “Jessica,” as well as the recently debuted original “Beautiful.”

Zac Brown and members of his band contributed to The String Cheese Incident’s new studio album, though their recordings did not ultimately make the final version of the record. The two groups also collaborated at the first Lockn’ Festival this past fall.

This weekend’s Georgia Theatre shows were some of the group’s most intimate in recent memory. Though String Cheese helped reopen the famed theater in 2011—after the venue closed for over two year following a fire—the band outgrew the room way back in 2000.

The String Cheese Incident will return to the stage Memorial Day weekend when they headline DelFest in Cumberland, MD.
