As a part of the 10th annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert at Los Angeles’ Club Nokia, Metallica performed a special acoustic set full of covers, three of which were debuts for the rock titans.

The band offered takes on The Beatles’ “In My Life” as well as Ozzy Osbourne’s “Diary of a Madman” (who was a guest of honor), Rare Earth’s “I Just Want to Celebrate” and Deep Purple’s “When A Blind Man Cries.”

The Deep Purple, Beatles and Osbourne cover were all debuts for the band. They hadn’t played “I Just Want to Celebrate” since 2007.

The group is preparing for their European tour that kicks off May 28 in Helsinki, FIN. The band will spend the summer abroad before returning to North America on August 9 and 10 for a pair of shows in Montreal.
