Gary Clark Jr., Zac Brown, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band are among the guests that will appear on Foo Fighters’ upcoming eighth album. The news was revealed today via a new Billboard interview with frontman Dave Grohl.

As previously reported, Foo Fighters’ forthcoming album will also feature a guest appearance by Joe Walsh, as well as number of other musicians that have not yet been revealed. The band traveled to eight cities across the United States—Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC and New York City—to record a song at a different iconic studio for the new LP. One song was recorded in each location, with each track featuring a local legend. Additionally, Grohl put off writing lyrics until the final day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became a part of the process.

In addition to releasing an album, Foo Fighters will also be starring in a Dave Grohl-directed HBO series that will document the band’s trip across the country. Both the album and the show are currently untitled.

In related news, Foo Fighters put on an impromptu performance at New Orleans Preservation Hall last week. The band was in town for the New Orleans leg of the journey, which saw them turn the legendary music venue into a temporary recording studio.
