Live Nation unveiled the Backstage Oasis at Jones Beach this past Friday night during Barry Gibb’s show at the famed venue. The 2,800-capacity area near the stage serves as the first location where non-VIP concertgoers can buy alcoholic beverages.

The Backstage Oasis includes TV monitors showing what is happening on stage as well as couches, food from local food trucks and more. Alcoholic beverages, however, must be consumed in the area and cannot be brought back to the seating area.

For decades, Jones Beach had a strict no-alcohol policy due to it’s status as a New York State Park. While every petition to loosen the regulations failed, in 2012 Live Nation officials set up a committee to address the concerns of the state and other groups about selling alcohol at the amphitheater. The ticketing company involved Deena Cohen, a victim advocate for Mothers Against Drunk Driving as well as Richard Mallow, executive director of MADD New York State.
